I would like to announce a new version of my LPR based printer spooler
for Microsoft Windows. It has been restructered and got a few new
features. The announcement text follows.

Please note that I'm out of town until March 27. So if you mail me
during this time my answer might be a bit delayed.

/Thomas

========================================================================

WLPRSPL 4.0, a Windows Sockets based print spooler for
transparent printing to LPD print servers from Windows Applications

WLPRSPL 4.0 allows you to print transparently from any Windows application
to network printers. All that is needed is a Protocol DLL that implements an
API
for sending print jobs to such a remote printer. Included is WLPR2.DLL which
implements the LPD protocol (RFC1179) and allows printing to LPD print servers
(typically some UNIX hosts).

Requirements:

o Microsoft Windows 3.1
o A Protocol DLL like the included WLPR2.DLL.
o Networking software that offers a Windows Sockets 1.1 DLL if the included
WLPR2.DLL is used as Protocol DLL (that's the normal case for printing
to LPR/LPD (RFC 1179) based printers).

Changes since release 4.0:

o Now uses the Protocol DLL WLPR2.DLL which allows the use of several
different Protocol DLLs for different remote printers side by side.
WLPR2.DLL is a re-write of the old WLPR.DLL and is not compatible with
     the latter.
o The program now has a so-called unattended mode which causes the program
to automatically retry failed print job transfers after a user-definable
     amount of time.
o Uses CTL3D.DLL from Microsoft to give dialogs a 3D look.

Availability:

The ZIP archive containing the packages is WLPRS40.ZIP.
The software was uploaded to the following Anonymous FTP sites:

o sunsite.unc.edu in /uploads
     Final destination directory: /pub/micro/pc-stuff/ms-windows/winsock/apps

o ftp.cica.indiana.edu in /pub/pc/win3/uploads
Final destination directory: /pub/pc/win3/util or /pub/pc/win3/winsock

The ZIP file contains the program and necessary DLLs as well as
documentation in form of an MS Word for Windows 2.0 file and a
plain ASCII file. For installation and operating instructions please
refer to this documentation. A PostScript version can be sent by E-mail
on demand.

The program is Shareware.
