Prior to versions 2.11.38 and 3.6.9, there is a potential vulnerability in Traefik managing TLS handshake on TCP routers. When Traefik processes a TLS connection on a TCP router, the read deadline used to bound protocol sniffing is cleared before the TLS handshake is completed. When a TLS handshake read error occurs, the code attempts a second handshake with different connection parameters, silently ignoring the initial error. A remote unauthenticated client can exploit this by sending an incomplete TLS record and stopping further data transmission, causing the TLS handshake to stall indefinitely and holding connections open. By opening many such stalled connections in parallel, an attacker can exhaust file descriptors and goroutines, degrading availability of all services on the affected entrypoint. This issue has been patched in versions 2.11.38 and 3.6.9.","title":"Description of the CVE"},{"category":"legal_disclaimer","text":"CSAF 2.0 data is provided by SUSE under the Creative Commons License 4.0 with Attribution (CC-BY-4.0).","title":"Terms of use"}],"publisher":{"category":"vendor","contact_details":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/contact/","name":"SUSE Product Security Team","namespace":"https://www.suse.com/"},"references":[{"category":"external","summary":"CVE-2026-26999","url":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-26999"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Security Ratings","url":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/rating/"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Bug 1259275 for CVE-2026-26999","url":"https://bugzilla.suse.com/1259275"}],"title":"SUSE CVE CVE-2026-26999","tracking":{"current_release_date":"2026-03-11T00:25:08Z","generator":{"date":"2026-03-07T00:25:44Z","engine":{"name":"cve-database.git:bin/generate-csaf-vex.pl","version":"1"}},"id":"CVE-2026-26999","initial_release_date":"2026-03-07T00:25:44Z","revision_history":[{"date":"2026-03-07T00:25:44Z","number":"2","summary":"references added, severity changed from to important"},{"date":"2026-03-11T00:25:08Z","number":"3","summary":"vulnerabilities added"}],"status":"interim","version":"3"}},"product_tree":{"branches":[{"branches":[{"branches":[{"category":"product_name","name":"openSUSE Tumbleweed","product":{"name":"openSUSE Tumbleweed","product_id":"openSUSE Tumbleweed","product_identification_helper":{"cpe":"cpe:/o:opensuse:tumbleweed"}}},{"category":"product_version","name":"traefik-3.6.10-1.1","product":{"name":"traefik-3.6.10-1.1","product_id":"traefik-3.6.10-1.1","product_identification_helper":{"purl":"pkg:rpm/suse/traefik@3.6.10-1.1"}}},{"category":"product_version","name":"traefik2-2.11.40-1.1","product":{"name":"traefik2-2.11.40-1.1","product_id":"traefik2-2.11.40-1.1","product_identification_helper":{"purl":"pkg:rpm/suse/traefik2@2.11.40-1.1"}}}],"category":"product_family","name":"SUSE Linux Enterprise"}],"category":"vendor","name":"SUSE"}],"relationships":[{"category":"default_component_of","full_product_name":{"name":"traefik-3.6.10-1.1 as component of openSUSE Tumbleweed","product_id":"openSUSE Tumbleweed:traefik-3.6.10-1.1"},"product_reference":"traefik-3.6.10-1.1","relates_to_product_reference":"openSUSE Tumbleweed"},{"category":"default_component_of","full_product_name":{"name":"traefik2-2.11.40-1.1 as component of openSUSE Tumbleweed","product_id":"openSUSE Tumbleweed:traefik2-2.11.40-1.1"},"product_reference":"traefik2-2.11.40-1.1","relates_to_product_reference":"openSUSE Tumbleweed"}]},"vulnerabilities":[{"cve":"CVE-2026-26999","ids":[{"system_name":"SUSE CVE Page","text":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-26999"}],"notes":[{"category":"general","text":"Traefik is an HTTP reverse proxy and load balancer.
