Gradio's Access Control List (ACL) for file paths can be bypassed by altering the letter case of a blocked file or directory path. This vulnerability arises due to the lack of case normalization in the file path validation logic. On case-insensitive file systems, such as those used by Windows and macOS, this flaw enables attackers to circumvent security restrictions and access sensitive files that should be protected. This issue can lead to unauthorized data access, exposing sensitive information and undermining the integrity of Gradio's security model. Given Gradio's popularity for building web applications, particularly in machine learning and AI, this vulnerability may pose a substantial threat if exploited in production environments. This issue has been addressed in release version 5.6.0. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","title":"Description of the CVE"},{"category":"legal_disclaimer","text":"CSAF 2.0 data is provided by SUSE under the Creative Commons License 4.0 with Attribution (CC-BY-4.0).","title":"Terms of use"}],"publisher":{"category":"vendor","contact_details":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/contact/","name":"SUSE Product Security Team","namespace":"https://www.suse.com/"},"references":[{"category":"external","summary":"CVE-2025-23042","url":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2025-23042"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Security Ratings","url":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/rating/"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Bug 1235883 for CVE-2025-23042","url":"https://bugzilla.suse.com/1235883"}],"title":"SUSE CVE CVE-2025-23042","tracking":{"current_release_date":"2025-02-15T16:56:28Z","generator":{"date":"2025-01-16T03:48:23Z","engine":{"name":"cve-database.git:bin/generate-csaf-vex.pl","version":"1"}},"id":"CVE-2025-23042","initial_release_date":"2025-01-16T03:48:23Z","revision_history":[{"date":"2025-01-16T03:48:23Z","number":"2","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-02-14T03:49:57Z","number":"3","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-02-15T16:56:28Z","number":"4","summary":"Current version"}],"status":"interim","version":"4"}}}
