('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) This could be done in perl writting usernames and IP numbers to either an html page or a flatfile database which could then be read by nc or another perl script.
format for DNS file could be
$username:$ENV{'REMOTE_ADDR'}
If anyones interested, I've got a perl script I wrote a while back that did just this, for a filesharing package I built. that I could send as "rustic" example code
