Hello,
I recently installed mulinux (V11r12) on a 486SX-33MHz machine with 8MB RAM
and it worked but seemed to be running slowly. E.G. "PS" only lists
processes at the rate of about one per second. I assume this is due to the
relatively slow CPU.
A few days ago, a workmate gave me an AM486DE2-66V8TGC CPU. I thought this
would be a way of increasing the speed of my machine and in fact it does run
faster. All programs/OS's on the machine work, including MINIX 2.0.0 but
not mulinux. What happens is after "uncompressing linux..." appears the
machine reboots. I can replace the CPU with the original and everything
works as mentioned above. If I reduce the AMD CPU speed to 25MHz (50MHz
internal) mulinux runs but as soon as I put it back to 33MHz (66Mhz
internal) the problem reoccurrs.
Has anyone come across this problem or have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Charles,
Townsville, Australia.
