You could try BloodShed Dev C++ or something like that. It's supposed
to be free. At least it is on one of the CD's of PC Magazine.
But the best thing about QT is that you can write apps using QT
library for both Windows and Unix/Linux, you only choose at
compilation time what OS you are going to use. And the apps are much
smaller (compact) compared to MS C++/ whatever. Opera is one of the
programmes that has been ported to QT. Now the entire browser (without
java) is about 2 megs. Ditto for Windows version.
What are you going to write for Windows that requires C++ compiler?
Some serious software? ;)
