/mnt is the "mount point": if all go well, this /mnt correspond to
your "d:\" part.
Please, do this test for me:
# umount all additional HDs
# cd /etc
# rc.probe
What error you see? Go in /var/tmp and check those file
bootdir and bootdevice
Please, check contents.
