We chose Win32 for the client interface because it is common, well-accepted and friendly.
We used the Zinc platform-independent graphical user interface library to develop the user interface of the client software. Zinc allowed us to save time writing Windows screen code and be sure that future versions of the software could easily be ported to other operating systems (e.g., Motif, Curses, NextStep, MacOS, OS/2 PM).
